Has anybody put a heating element in the stock seats? If so, what materials did you buy and how did you wire it in and where did you locate the switch? If anybody has any ideas about wiring it up and mounting a switch , i would be interested in your ideas. Thank you.

I used a heating blanket and/or a heated seat cushion from Amazon.

That's a good idea. Did you permanently wire it or did you put in a socket?

I've used this one from Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-1 ... eated+seat

It worked out very well. Of course you'll need a 12V lighter outlet for it.

There's also this kit available for 24V systems: http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/24v-or- ... s-kit.html

I need to look into this! I already have three different sets of seats - from corvette to Honda CRX. Time to add a Smart

Smart seats are 12 V. unless you set them inline and heat both at the same time, a 12 V subsystem is recommended
I have installed it for the electrical power steering, and my ladies love the "bum-toaster"

Here is the newer style (same size - just different design) Smart seat (from a 451 FourTwo, Alberts are from the 450 series)
They fit well and pass side folds flat and just clears rifle mounts as it folds
Not too heavy and can be had with heaters (or 24v ones can be added)
The newest Smart Car (redesigned) seats will probably not work as they have a large plastic base (but have not really looked into this)

That looks cool. How's the headroom? Do you lose the ease of removing them for doghouse removal? If ya can't get them out in a minute like the OEM seats, it kind of loses its charm. I like the fold down, though

6'4" and no issue vs a stock seat (I actually think this is a bit better)
Pass side is quick and simple to remove
Drivers side is a bit harder but not much. I only removed 1 stock drivers seat a few years ago so I am a bad judge

You would never think a second thought about removing the seats if you had to remove the seats and doghouse on a ATL Pinz :!:

FWIW the lower section of the back of the seat is designed as the soft side of velcro. The smart car had velcro pockets that attached to hold the manual and stuff.

I have Smart seats (the 450 version), too. Much better comfort and no complaints for headroom or legroom (long-legged 6'2", so I pushed the Smart seat a bit further from the steering wheel than the original seat).
They are heavier and more cumbersome than the originals of course, but my bum and back think it's well worth the effort.

this is the bottom view of my Smart seats

They are mounted an an adapter plate which has the hooks on the front edge, like the original ones. A hole in the rear end allows the use of the original screw.
taking the seats out and back in takes just the extra time to fold the passenger seat flat. The driver side cannot be folded, dunno why, ask Mercedes ..

ps : no jokes about the bucket, please :-).
