Replacement Seats

Post by HYRYSC »

What are some of the best replacement seats? I have a bead on some Miata seats but didn't know if those would work well. Anyone ever put miata seats in?

I've used a few different seats over the years on my Pinz's. My favorite for fit and comfort are my current ones. Military surplus (new), possibly MRAP. I was able to modify the original Pinz seat frames to bolt up to the new seats. They're also narrow enough, like the Smartcar seats, to easily fit and still have access to the belts and levers.

I agree that those look great. I renovated my original seats a couple years ago quite successfully but these look very comfortable. Paul, anymore details on model number, how you modified them for the original frames, etc? And, it also looks like you need to give us a pictorial tour of your Pinz interior; always looking for ideas.

Here are a few more photos including one of the seat model. I wish I had bought a couple of more at the time. The fabric is a "Tuff-X" or something similar, a non-slip, easy to clean surface. I often see similar items on govplanet.com but in larger lots typically, but then track down the winning bidder to buy just the quantity I want.

For mounting, I welded steel bars to the original seat frames at the appropriate spot with holes in the bars to bolt to the existing mounting points on the seats.
