1972 Search & Rescue Pinz (*warning* picture heavy)
Re: 1972 Search & Rescue Pinz (*warning* picture heavy)
WOW! Nice work.
Pinz looks great and sounds like its working out for you and those pics are awesome. I am sure he is VERY gratefull you were there.
Was hopeing to see it at MogFest and meet up with you, was wondering how the build was going.
Check the classifieds, someone had a blower fan for sale. I am using a Swiss/Propex style heater in the rear of mine and running it off 1lb green bottles. Works great and is semi permanantly mounted. Its an Air heater with blower like a Erbesbacher or Webasto and safe to run while occupied.

We have a 24V blower we just took out of a Pinz that we converted to 12V if you are still looking for one.

Didn't realize that his tires stuck out that far...

Optical illusion. I had the same wheels with same off-set from Trail Ready. His FB page shows better pics and they dont look to stick out as far as they do in this close up/ wierd angle shot. It also makes the rub rails look like they are built with 3 inch spacers, but I'm guessing about 1 1/2".

I posted a whole series of photos to my Facebook Page http://facebook.com/sarpinz and will get them uploaded to a place where I can link to them here once I get it back from powder coat and final assembled.

More progress and some training this weekend. The shift gear rod retaining nut rattled loose so ordered a new rod. Overall it worked extremely well. This thing is a mountain goat.
I need to find a new gas cap and powder coat it red to match.
Here's a few pics

The new Tuff River Stuff top is amazing. The fit and quality is top notch. I ordered back in March and just got it last week so the wait time is long, but so worth it.

Here in Bavaria SAR is called "Bergwacht" ... the Organisations tradition goes back to the 1920ies ... and is financed by public sources (health insurance/goverment).
My Pinz is used as a backup for our regular Mercedes (Puch) G: the front one is a diesel still in duty ... the two petrol driven ones are owned by the caterer of the Blaueishuette, a cabin in the national park: http://www.blaueishuette.de/die-huette/
The bavarian Bergwacht has a training center, where the different skills can be trained indoor:
all kind of air rescue including cutting a injured climber from the rope by helicopter approach, rescue of paragliders from trees, rescue from skilifts ... there is a complete shock room of an emergency room, where the advanced trauma live saving skills can be trained and even a cool chamber, where you can train under frosty conditions in summer ....http://www.bw-zsa.de/?id=331
Greetings from the Kampenwand above lake Chiemsee .... Simon
