Top secret diesel tank
Top secret diesel tank
After being dissatisfied with all the fuel cells readily available, I decided to embark on this my own way! What's more appropriate than an application appropriate military jerry can! This tank is tapped and vented ready to go. The only downside to this is I know someone will eventually yank this tank out, pulling a portion of the fuel line with it haha
That and the color for diesel is yellow... so my tank lies

Didn't think it got that cold in Texas to need a diesel heater ~
The larger fuel tank is a nice feature on those Austrian Pinzs.

I thought it was saturday! Both days work for me though! I will shoot you a text this evening.EmbarkChief wrote:Lookin' good! We still getting together Sunday?
It was included at a screaming price when I got my pinz. Couldn't pass it up. We get down in the 30s, but it's still wet. It's a very uncomfortable cold.Haf-e wrote:Didn't think it got that cold in Texas to need a diesel heater ~

Here's a snap from the back. Nothing prevents a thief from ripping the tank and lines out except the tank is locked. I'm not too worried about it.

How easy is it to fill now that it is tied to the truck with the hose?

Cake. I don't even remove it. The fuel opening is the highest point, so I just drop the bar that holds the can in, pop the lid, fill, and close! It acts just like a fuel cell.Jimm391730 wrote:How easy is it to fill now that it is tied to the truck with the hose?
Got the heater running today too. OH MAN. It works very well. Sadly the pump didn't have enough strength to draw fuel. I had to 'manually' prime the lines. At least diesel doesn't taste as bad as gas!

On December 18, 1983 the temperature in Dallas went below freezing and stayed that way until December 30th. - 295 hours. Pipes froze all over the metroplex and ice dams formed in the gutters 2-3 ft. wide and hundreds of feet long. Ft. Worth had over 500 breaks in its water main system. I was there...Haf-e wrote:Didn't think it got that cold in Texas to need a diesel heater ~
It doesn't usually stay below freezing for long, but it does get cold frequently. The local saying is, "If you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait a minute."

It's not that bad in Houston. In my lifetime I've gotten used to seeing about a weeks worth of 'soft freeze' days ever year. It gets very uncomfortable around 50 though because the air is so wet. Plus this is my camping rig. And if I want my wife to join me, I gotta be able to keep it above 65 in the winter.
Who am I kidding, I'm the wimp who needs it warm lol
