Why not powder-coat it? Looks like it'd be ideal for that, being all fresh and bare. It would last a lot longer in the Ca. sun too. I usually have my bumpers, handles, etc. coated but when I had my Gwagen's rear bumperettes sand-blasted, I tried to save a few dollars and did a careful paint job but still, a few years later, I regret it. They are already fading and more than one little surface rust spot has appeared because they scratch so easy. My front bumper that Andre built is still looking like new, which was coated.
