I would be very interested to know what you have all done to reduce noise. My 710k needs all the help it can get. I thought of using the foil backed styro-foam construction materials covered with a plastic paneling for asthetic comforts. The exhaust system is first to be fixed of course.
Ideas?

WHAT?I was thinking all pinzes were that loud....
Captxmas,
Many months back, someone had posted a link to a VW van site detailing the guy's soundproofing. He'd gone to great lengths to deal with issues like condensation and rust, etc. If you're really serious about working on that K, you might try and search it up.

Check out this page from McMaster-Carr:

The flexible EVA sheets are about the same as Dynamat ( http://www.dynamat.com/ )but less expensive and when applied to bulkheads and under seats absorb a lot of the vibration noise in the metal.
I think the following site may be what Paul U. (undysworld) was referring to:

3/4 - 1" thick steyr-foam . I buy them in 4'x8' sheets, cut them to fit in between the ribs and linex them into place.
I did this on an old Mack truck cab that I converted into a DJ booth for Fed Bull. Sound deadened and now insulated.

Besides whats been posted, the single biggest thing you can do is have a shop install headliner material on the ceiling over dynamat sheets. The commercial headliner material is porous and foam filled and wont reflect sound waves back down onto you. I had an upholstery shop make a headliner for a customer's 710K and that reduced sound by probably 30-40%. We also did a basic carpet kit and they sewed nice edges onto the pieces we cut. Strategic placement of dyno sheets under those helped a ton as well. Its all about absorbing sound waves... and stopping them from being produced or traveling.
Check this site our for some good products at great prices and info. (less than dynamat!) And make sure to check out the forums on there for projects with pics.

And here is where some great commercial level sound materials are sold, like the headliner sheets that also make the cab look nicer. http://www.heco.net/noise.html
