CB whip antenna paintable?

Build projects, things that guys have come up with to make a Pinz better (or worse?) and aftermarket add-ons.

CB whip antenna paintable?

Post by CentAr712 »

Hey everybody, I'm in the process of installing an 8' stainless steel CB whip antenna and what I am wondering is whether or not it's OK to paint the antenna. I don't know much about electronics and radios so I figured I'd ask to find out whether painting the antenna would have an adverse effect on radio performance. I just have a strong compulsion to give all additions to the Pinz a coat of Swiss Army Green. Thanks, Chris.

Getting it to stick to something that flexible sounds like an issue alone.

Flexible is an issue without etching. Saw some self etching spray paint at Home Depot, don't know about that.
Stainless works with so many color schemes...why paint it? Just very curious.

Might try military web sites for an OD one already done.

I'm not worried about the paint sticking, I just want to make sure it wont impede the performance of the radio, that's all.

It shouldn't have any effect on radiation performance, unless maybe it was very high-powered.
