Another toy..
eric and mike - yeah, i'm definitely not a vehicle mech. but i'm thinking i can farm the work out as reqd. as far as body type stuff, tho, that would be my dept more than anyone i've ever met. i'm thinking a volvo might be just the kinda truck to replace all my other trucks if i can update/upgrade anything that needs it. mike - i'll call up extreme and see what he says about it all.
thx!
meanwhile, art (jake raby's buddy) at ace is my latest discovery for pinz work here in slc. i think i'll finally get to drive my pinz (right when the snow starts).

On that subject, have you looked at ZIL 131s? Awesome offroad, cheap, multifuel engines and you can still get the spares for 'em.ka wrote: i'm thinking a volvo might be just the kinda truck to replace all my other trucks if i can update/upgrade anything that needs it.
Too big for me here in the UK given the narrow roads and lanes around where I live, but if I was in the US it might be another conversation...

It aint what you drive, its the way that you drive it...
OH man the Zil 131's have been on my wish list for some time. I just have not gotten around to buying a geiger counter yet. Seems some of these trucks don't make it through our customs as they are a little too hot. Still a great truck as are the Ural 4320's but then again they are both monsters in comparisson to the volvos.
Mike
yep - too big. i'm more into pinzgauer sized trucks. the volvo looks like a good idea but there are issues with that as well, rare parts being number one.

Did a side job for the bank my wife works for. I had to go to Denver, visited Dennis at LinDen. I can't say enough about him,he will drop everything just to chat, answer questions or whatever.I know some will not agree with me ,but he was a real breath of fresh air..
Well anyway....I spied a rust free Volvo cab, sitting on a 6x6 frame,no eng trans,or axles, but I have all that,. My original cab was better than most, but this one was fabulous! This will save me 100's of hrs getting this truck to where I want it to be. So Dennis came up with a price and... another trip to Denver, this time with my truck and trailer to bring back my prize! Going in about a Month,WOO,WOO!!

Congratulations on the cab find. Even greater congrats on having the opportunity to meet and speak with Dennis. My wife and I had the good fortune to spend some time with Dennis and crew a few years back. Both a pleasure and an honor.
In addition to working on a diesel conversion for a friend, we will need to do some cab restoration as well. Do you have any plans for your original TGB cab after your new acquisition has been installed? If you do not plan to keep it as a spare, please let me know.
Take care.
