1-2 shift adjustment

If you end up with all shifts ok except the 1-2, as in you can't get it in 1-2 without lifting the gate for reverse. And the reverse selects well. After trying to adjust the linkage at the transmission you have no success try this: Lift the shift lever boot. On the side nearest the drive look for a bolt that the lever operated by the gate hits. You can find it by following the gate linkage down. A little adjustment on that bolt resolved the problem today and made me look like the wise old sage.
