... I wouldn´t use a degreaser. Just wipe it out. Also inside the axlebody.
Check the venthose on top of the axlebody. May be the mud came in there.
If you find some more mud, I would flush the complete axle with oil or better dismantle it to make shure that there is no more mud inside.

Ok thanks

Axle body is fine. Crud was just wheel carrier side. I'll wipe out what I can, fit the new boot then change the oil in the hub

Does anyone have any miles done with the FMV boots? Someone told me they had spoken with a plastics guru who said that polyurethane was not a very good material for that purpose.
I've fitted 2 and they seemed to be good quality, but i havent done any miles yet.

I've received new boots (not new old stock, brand new special built) from Tatanka.
They use rubber as the original ones but are much thicker.

I have yet to put them on 8-/

I installed a Tatanka CV boot in my brothers truck several weeks ago. It was good quality and has been working well with several hundred miles on it now. They have Tatanka molded into the boot to identify it.

FMV is closed. No further action, as far as I know.

You can contact Claas in Germany 4scirocco(add)web.de
He has many new rebuild parts. There is no website.

Uli

Looking for some feedback...my Volvo seems to go thru the cv boots pretty regularly and my rig has spacers on the wheels to provide a bit wider stance...this was something done by the previous owner and I haven’t thought to undo it, the wheels are only out an inch from under the vehicle, but could this be causing more strain somehow on the boots?...obviously the engineers at Volvo designed them the way they did for a reason, but has anyone experimented with a wider stance and had a similar experience?

Hello,

as Uli mentiones the last days.
I have the CV-Boots in stock.
Good quality, new, similar to the boots from Morgan.
And a lot of other parts for the Volvos (sealings, bearings, brake parts, CV-boots and so on).

regards Claas
