A few pointers I have for removing the alternator and repairing it. In my case some of the power diodes went out so I had to replace them. But I also replaced the brushes and checked all the measurements to the manual.
If the stator winding or rotor is wrong measurement then you can order a new one at SAV.
First remove alternator.
Once it's removed you remove the back cooling plate. It has 3 power diodes pressed into it. So it won't remove completely until you unsolder it. You'll have to remove the diodes to check them. Use a diode checking mode on your ohm meter. Each diode should show around .5 ohms in one direction and zero in the other direction. If not them replace them.
Tap out old diodes with a socket.
Press in the new diodes with modified socket. Note the new diodes from SAV are pressed in backwards from the old original ones.
Clean up all the connections and be sure to insulate them.
Put everything back together. And enjoy.

Check the stator Widing. Also check the rotor measurement.
