Re: 1969 Haflinger Bantam
Nice find!
I have a similar set of alloy Lancia 14x6 (look the same as yours perhaps I measured the width incorrectly?) and I currently run steel 13" for on-road.
I am (like everyone else in NA) looking for a good off-road tire that will fit any one of these rims (including the original steel 12's)
I have not found anything out there (wish I lived in Australia! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-x-NEW-OUTB ... 2c66c2633a)

Re: 1962 Haflinger Bantam
The dimensions were just stamped on the wheel. I figure ill mount my new set of maloyas on the stock rims for shows and off road and use this set for road driving. I would have liked to find a set of 13x4 but no such luck.

Re: 1962 Haflinger Bantam
Mine are the same as yours 14 x 5
What tires and size are you going to run on them for street use?
And what about the nuts - I think Jim L said these rims are good to use the regular nuts vs getting some machined?

Re: 1962 Haflinger Bantam
I carry my Haffie around in a 8'x5' trailer that also takes rubbish to the tip when required. The rims on my Haffie are 14"x5.5 Fiat rims then using the standard haffie wheel nuts.
I used to have a Lancia with the wheels you have acquired. On the Lancia they use wheel bolts that screwed into the hub but on a studded hub they will bolt up with normal nuts.
Last month I lost a wheel on the Haffie - the wheel nuts came off. Some grinding damage but nothing that stopped the vehicle.
I bought these new wheel nuts (I got the 1.5 thread version) http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/43/ ... .5+lug+nut- I bought them individuality for 99c though postage to Aust was expensive. I used some light thread locker to stop the nuts coming off again.
The 14" wheels I have on my haffie have no clearance issues as the offset on the wider wheel means the track is about the same as a haffie with 12" wheels on. However the wheel/tyre is taller and I don't think this help stability. I think that the taller you go the fatter the tyre needs to be and the offset of the wheel needs to move out to maintain stability.
For road use I am thinking about buying these for less than $50 the lot - they are Alfa 13x5.5 rims
Looking at putting these tyres on which will be good for onroad and off road
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190839954566 ... 1423.l2648
The alternative to all this is to leave the 14" wheels I have for onroad use and get some hub adaptors and use 12" ATV/UTV wheels with 25" ATV/UTV tyres for offroad use. None of the ATV/UTV tyres seen to be able to be used onroad safely as the compounds are just too soft. Also in Aust hub spacers/adaptors are illegal for onroad use unless is original equipment on the vehicle (this makes the little haflinger spacers legal).

So you purchased these lugs vs the link you posted?
10mm x 1.50mm Thread Pitch

Sorry Shawn, this has gone a bit off topic from your 1962 Bantam thread - I could move it into a new thread about rims and tires if you like?

Re: 1962 Haflinger Bantam
Dan it is all good to me I have no problem with it here. Just might be harder to do a search on is all. You decide.
Regardless once I know for sure wich lug nut to buy I will.
As far as tires are concerned I don't know yet. Probably a week or two out still.

I may have asked before but what size tires are you running on the 14" rims - can you post a picture of your sidewall please?Garrycol wrote: SNIP

Also - if you get a chance can you measure the diameter of the tires?
Thanks!

Re: 1962 Haflinger Bantam
Hey Shawn,
Great looking Bantam you got for yourself, congratulations!
On one of the above posts the question of lug nuts came up. I believe that the original nuts will not work properly i.e. safely on alloy wheels. Rick Fredrick from Palm Desert, CA came up with a custom design for the correct fit a couple years ago and posted photos in the Restorations section of this forum site. You may be able to buy a set of the nuts from Rick. He also made a copy of his CAD drawing available for the asking. If you can't get in contact with Rick I can send you a copy of his CAD drawing.
Cheers,
Steve

Yes got those nuts - bought a few extra and have my originals in the spare parts kit.
Here is a pic with the new nuts on - covered about 300km with them and no issues.
The tyres are Hankook Zovac HP W401 M+S - 185R14C 102/100P The aspect ratio is not given but comparing the overall diameter of these with other Zovac of the same width it looks like they have an aspect ratio of 80. From the online specs 185/75R 14 tyre has a diameter of 24.8" and my tyre from the online specs has a diameter of 25.6" (which works out to be 185/80R14). My tyre is the 102/100P near the bottom of this link http://www.hankook.com.ar/img/productos ... =rcldgggkeTechMOGogy wrote:I may have asked before but what size tires are you running on the 14" rims - can you post a picture of your sidewall please?

Necro...
Did those lug nuts work? I ordered a set.
I have a set of fiat rims and Lancia rims incoming. Those nuts work even though the rims were designed for 12mm?
