This was the way the PO fixed the infamous SDP broken seat strap issues we have all seen on Haflingers and Pinzgauers
Note - this is on a Hafi seat
Notice how the S hooks have been rebent and shortened
Box of 50 for $35 is a pretty good deal but I am sure if you Google it you can find even better

Really? I would think they would stretch to the point your butt would be on the deck and the upholstery would be messed up.. How long have they been on there?

There maximum stretch is 23", so between 15" and 23" you would have a lot of sag..... I wonder how much deflection you get when you have 10 of them under a seat? Might spread the load enough for them not to deflect so much your bum ends up hitting the platform.
I used "rubber webbing" (Pirelli webbing) type stuff to make seat straps.

Re: Cheap way to fix Haflinger seat straps
I will have to check one when I get home but when I zoom in on my photo is say max stretch 18" so perhaps they are a bit shorter than the ones I posted a link to?!?
I do know that the seat was very nice to sit on, did not bottom out and felt better than my current Hafi seat that had the old original bands on it (granted they were very old and had little stretch left in them).

They are sold in Aussie spare shops as an alternative to the bungee cord type tie down straps - the ones I have are certainly as strong as the standard rubber straps on my seats. You need straps that are shorter than is needed so they go in under tension. The only downside is they are not as wide as the standard straps so more are needed as is shown in the pics.
I have to build up my rear seats at some stage and I was going to use them for the seat backs.
Cheers

Re: Cheap way to fix Haflinger seat straps
I've been looking at vinyl strapping/rivets as used on strapped lawn furniture. I'm not sure if it's strong enough..
The difference in price between it and Pirelli webbing is enough for me to experiment.

Seat belt webbing is very strong, more so than lawn furniture strap, and should last as long or longer.
