Need brake and voltage regulator advice
Took the 1111 out of winter storage last week, running good, have put about 200 miles on her. Noticed that she lacked power at times (climbimg hills etc..), today I found that all but the drivers rear wheel were pretty hot after a short trip. It seems that the brakes are sometimes dragging on their own, and it can be felt in a hard brake pedal, and then "releases" itself and is normal again. Any ideas?
Also, does anyone have handy the part numbers for the shoes/wheel cylinders?
Secondly, after about an hour and a half drive, I smelled a "sulpher" smell, and could hear the batteries bubbling. Today, put the meter on them, and they are at 28 volts at idle, but goes up to about 38 volts when at higher RPM's. Can the regulator be rebuilt or adjusted?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Need brake and voltage regulator advice
Regs are "solid state" I removed my alt and replaced it with a delco 24V 75A alt with internal voltage reg. If I remember right, when I looked inside one of the regs there was a small spot that looked burned. Kinda like a resistor toasted. May be a good electronics shop can be of help. I have 2 regs and alternators,I know one set worked when I pulled it out,the other came with a parts truck. If you are interested, make me an offer, but the smart money would be to replace the orig alt with something more "normal".

Re: Need brake and voltage regulator advice
Be careful when bleeding brakes, it is best to use a pressure bleeder on both reservoirs at the same time as it is a diagonally split system.
Both upper front wheel cylinders and one rear wheel are on one circuit, both front lower wheel cylinders are with the other rear wheel cylinder.

Re: Need brake and voltage regulator advice
Thank you for the replies. Does anyone (Jim ) have any idea why the brake issue would be intermittent?
Also, is there an after market regulator that can be had?
Thanks!

Re: Need brake and voltage regulator advice
Brake fluid is hydrostatic(attracts water), without use (heat)moisture builds up and causes corrosion, resulting in binding brake pistons and valves in both remote boosters. If you are loosing fluid, pull the vac valve off the boosters and look inside for fluid.
Or make a dipstick out of wire, rub it with carbon paper or a black marker(to dull the surface) dip it in and look for wetness.
Have fun, the brake springs are a real ba$tard to remove and install.

If that were true, he would never admit it.
SDP has a leash with a choke collar on him to keep him in line. Stefan, if he is still alive, probably would drool to hold that leash.
Sorry, Jim--I couldn't resist the reference to our favorite "party" man. You know what I mean.
Cheers,
Greg
