well, Jim ventured out last Saturday to get a look at the truck and help with it a bit. .. to put it lightly, a Pinz is to the MTV as a Haffy is to a Pinz

The beast started and moved under it's own power... until it decided to drag it's heals  .. not even a minor setback, as the air brake will be an easy fix compared to if I had to come up with money for a trans for this thing. ... a nice 712 would be cheaper.

The Pinz only comes to the waistline of the MTV

Looks like Jim could lose a soft-top via that snorkel.

I can't believe that Dave would have a truck with such bad glass...

Oh, but I'm green with envy!

I wonder if his fork lift goes high enough to take out the old glass.

I gotta start somewhere.

As time gets along, I may be looking for a 8' tent trailer to remove the axle from and mount sideways in the front of the bed to make it into my new motorhome and have a patio & parking spot for the Haffy.

Morris, forget the glass, I need the lift to get in it! I'm taking a soap box with me to climb in... if you can't step straight into your Pinz from the ground, forget the MTV

The more I think about it, the more I am liking the idea of keeping the dump mechanism.... no more sliding under the truck to check fluides, electrical or air lines, just tilt the bed up and work from the top of the frame   ... it also be good get rid of those guests that won't leave your 'house' when you're ready to to call it a night

And great for emptying the RV's "black water" tank as well!

I like it, dump both unwanteds at the same time. If that won't get rid of unwanted guests, what would?!

Oh, I dunno. Perhaps dumping the unwanted guests first, then dump the black water.

Congrats on your progress Dave.

Hmmmm. Sounds like which came first, the chicken or the egg..
Do you dump the guests first, and rinse with the black water OR dump the black water first, so the guest slide quickly? :?

Thanks Paul... when I bought the truck, I was wondering if I had a 24,000lb albatross around my neck

Got a lot done for a 100+ deg(f) day. Starter circuit repaired, engine operational, main air supply system tested/operational, transmission operation verified, Vehicle moves under own power(when park brake released  ), drag link removed and re trued(it was almost a long boomerang with a twist), front u-joint installed, front drive line reconnected/operational, bent doors removed for repair.
Soon as the sticky park brake and CTIS systems are repaired, it will be time for lights, camper mounting and DMV
Cheers, Jim LaGuardia

Tonight, I tried out the GUESt ( Guaranteed Ultimate Evacuation System)

First, for the removal of a guest in need of a nudge:

And for those that can't take a hint... or just peeve you

Obviously, with the GUESt, emptying the Black water isn't required for maximum performance, but does give you a feel of satifaction

Anyone that has ever own a tilt cab truck can tell you servicing is much easier... I'm here to say it is even cooler if the bed tilts too! In the last week, the only time I ever was on the ground was to pick up a wrench (spanner  ) I dropped while cracking open air lines to troubleshoot the air brakes. The final culprit to my brake issues was a frozen closed check valve for the supply line for the rear brakes. Everything is reachable over the frame rails or by sitting on a tire.

The folllowing are the pics of my 'victory lap' at the museum , the first real drive of the 'Flying Dump Truck' with steering, brakes, and trans shifting and backing up.

Though I could have used a few less pics, I thought some would enjoy the Heavy Metal along the route :D
