Steyr's contribution to US military trucks
Re: Steyr's contribution to US military trucks
Very impressed, not much more than a year in your hands and its turned into a show piece.
I like the shot with the miniature Shriner jeep behind it.

Re: Steyr's contribution to US military trucks
A couple more pics from the parade
First, from the "mannequin" cam (she's a museum volunteer, and I don't think she moved once during the whole parade )
The "mannequin" with some 'behind the wheel' time
Expressions like that make all the expense and effort worth it
and the truck got plenty....

Mozo1 came by my shop last week for new glass
Deceiving pic, along side the FDT, Mozo 1 didn't look that big in person ... tire comparison, 46" vs 33"
Yours truly

Standing proud next to your creation. Good to see. It's a beaut. Great work.

It looks like Mozo1 has seen a face lift since I last saw it. Great shots of your little runabout. Hope all is treating you well.

Re: Steyr's contribution to US military trucks
Thanks guys. Remembering what I had bought and what it is now is surreal, and far exceeded what I originally envisioned. I had actually got parts made of Unobtainium !
Anyone that knows me, follows the “Dave” market trends, or my “down sizing”, realizes that something “I can’t live without” will be dangled under my nose soon after . And since last May, several had ask what my next project would be, and how could it compare to the FDT?
As usual, there was no real set “next project” other than looking at making a WMIK for a Supacat, then started to upgrade the tongue on my Sankey MK2 to be closer to the MK3 other than the disc brakes.
Welllll, Monday it happen, another carrot got dangled in front me…. Not really A carrot, but 8! 3 are larger than the FDT
I’m now in the process of weeding through them and see if I can work a deal for one … or possibly two.
I can’t say much else than either of 2 trucks will make people forget the Flying Dump Truck, Garfield and the Pink Cow ( remember it? It’s still my avatar). These are pure trucks for show… the 3rd would be a project.
I think I'll change my username to "Other 4x4's" since Vince wouldn't call this section " Dave's POS's"
I would say, wish me luck, but that could be luck to get any of them, or lucky not to!
I remember seeing Mozo 1 back when the body was being readied to be refitted to the running gear (prior to buying my 710M), then again in Arizona a year later ( prior to buying my 712M) and last week (prior to buying ???? ) and Mozo1 got my Sankey MK3 trailer as a travel companion ( as part of my intended down sizing)…It looks like Mozo1 has seen a face lift since I last saw it. Great shots of your little runabout. Hope all is treating you well.

Re: Steyr's contribution to US military trucks
OK Dave, thanks for pointing how tiny Mozo 1 is next to the Flying Dump Truck.
Ya, we felt humbled, but Mozo stands with pride
Face-lift, some, but more work has gone into getting the drive train and electrical
system right. I need to find a paint guy in the Bay Area.
Hey Dave the MK3 pulls nice behind Mozo
I must say, the FDT is awesome.

Re: Steyr's contribution to US military trucks
Told you Ron, the Sankeys are nice trailers from towing to having to manhandle them around the yard, even loaded.
Seeing the FDT in person puts a new twist to the word huge compared to looking at pictures of it.
Sometime I'd like to put it next to a Tatra, they're even bigger

Re: Steyr's contribution to US military trucks
I was hoping to have or at least know if my offer was accepted by Boxing Day.
I'm not sure if it is good or bad, but it was sent to the legal department , so it may be months.
But on the flip side, I can use the time to raise funds for more projects Heck with downsizing.... I'm thinking I need a CDL !
and Jim clear more space at OSP#3

Re: Steyr's contribution to US military trucks
It seem appropriate that my 2014th post be my new vehicle of 2014, and in this thread since the FDT build is directly responsible for me being in the right place, at the right time..
And praying to the right gods doesn't hurt
Didn't make it here for Boxing Day, but better than not at all.
Clicking on any of the pics will take you to the 718K folder

NICE!!!!!
You will have to fill us in on where and how you got it!
I like the front vents - perhaps they have a model number and can put that thread to bed!
