David,

This guy has been around for quite a while. I haven't been to his shop, but I remember looking at his inventory when I was looking for a Unimog many years ago.

We exchanged emails and my recollection was that he had a limited stock and nothing that met my criteria (age, body style etc).

Speaking of Land Cruisers, check out the FJ and BJ 70 series. I8Mud has a good 70s forum. Didn't sell them in the States, but were used in most other places around the world. Lots of options for wheelbases, engines, and body configurations. Could even get them with cable lockers.

Starting to see them pop on Ebay for the ones that are 25 years or older.

My Land Cruiser requirements are considerably more pedestrian that that! I'm thinking first car for teen age sons. So it's looking more like 10+ year old LC or perhaps 4Runners as an alternative.

Thanks for the comments but let's not side track the G-Wagen discussion.

Thanks for the heads up but that one looks like an automatic and doesn't have the fold down windshield but it's a clean looking example for sure...subject to a real inspection of course!
