Puch 300GD Added to the Garage
Puch 300GD Added to the Garage
A new addition to my addiction.....
1989 Puch 300GD
5 cylinder Mercedes diesel
5 speed Getrag trans
Hi/Lo FWD
In the process of minor repairs, updating, etc. So far it has new tires (Cooper ATW), new battery, new front turn signals, etc.
It's a whole new learning curve from my Pinzees.

Sweet!!
I love it - post lots of pictures for us - perhaps the Puch G will get its own section on the board (even though it does not have portals )
Now you just need a Haflinger to complete your SDP collection!!
If your up for a project: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=9397
Cheers,
Dan

Thanks for the kind words guys!
I thought about a Haflinger but I figured I would get more use out of the G-wagen plus it's much easier to find parts for it.
New headlights are on the way and I've got a few ideas......

Nice looking truck, Paul. One more reason why I need to stop by your place.

What is the "Getrag trans"?
Nice looking truck, keep thinking I need one.

Re: Puch 300GD Added to the Garage
From what I understand these came with either a Mercedes brand or Getrag brand transmission. In my case it is the Getrag. I've seen some forum posts that prefer the Getrag but I don't know enough about it (yet) to have an opinion.edzz wrote:What is the "Getrag trans"?

Re: Puch 300GD Added to the Garage
The interior is fairly simple - lighting & heater controls in the dash but no a/c though some had it, and it's apparently not too hard to add but pricey. There's a spot in the dash for the radio but nothing there right now.
The power steering is nice! As are the power brakes with front discs.
Prices are all over the place depending on badging (Puch or Mercedes), equipment (diff lockers, a/c, automatic, etc.), engine and so on. I've seen them from $15k-25k and up for fancy ones.
