Chain Extensions

Post by dnaPinz »

I am trying to put on my chains for the first time. I am using the instructions from SDP, but I have a question. My tires are 255/85 16 and my chains are stock. I am ending up about 3-4 inches too short when trying to connect the chains. I don't know if it is my inexperience or the chains are too small. Do I need chain extensions and if so where can I get them?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Add 2 quick links to each side of the chains, you will need 16 to do all 4 chains. Available at your local hardware store

Chain Lengthening

I just had to do this also on mine. I am running the LTB-08 (34x10.5) and had to add two links to each side. The fit is still on the tight side but is doable. One tip, instead of two quick links I used one quick and one actual 1/4" chain link......stronger and cheaper ;)

I added quick links and a few proof chain links and they fit fine now.
