AIR TUNNEL FOAM

Post by krick3tt »

I have noticed that the foam inside the air tunnel is VERY dirty and is sort of decomposing. Is there an easy replacement for this? If it is holding dirt it may be getting into the engine and buggering something up and I dont want that. I noticed this by way of looking into painting the tin.

Morris,

My foam was the same. I scraped it all out, including the rubber liner that the foam sticks to, and repainted the entire tunnel with POR 15. Looks a lot cleaner. The only thing is that in the winter the air tunnel is just a hair colder because it doesn't have the "insulating" foam any more. But in the Pinz, a little cold is the same as a lot of cold

I've had 2 Pinz's and both had the same crappy foam thing going on,now here is the poll ??? BOTH of my units had very large rodent claw scrapes in the foam going toward the grille! I don't believe I am a special case :? ( we're talking vehicles now), both times I expected to find fur and crap in the engine fins and found nothing. :D Perhaps the swiss rodents are as tough as the trucks and were able to hold on in spite of that SCREAMING fan waiting to take many small but rapid bites out of their butts!

AIR TUNNEL FOAM

Post by krick3tt »

Thanks for the image. I see chocolate eating rodents running for their lives after waking up in the intake.
But...seriously, I have heard a lot about POR products. Are they readily available, say at NAPA or the like?

Every time I look at the truck I think I could do some little project. The next was to clean up the foam and insulate the pipe coming to the cab from the 'heater'. Any extra heat could help on a nippy morn.

I thought I had the 'red death' for a time as there were bits of it in the gas filter, but it was just from the cans I use to fill the tank on occasion. I noticed that the stuff was in the cans one day as I used a small amount of gas to clean some parts. I was reading threads on this forum about POR for the gas tank, but when I talked to Scott (EI) he check the filter and said my tank was not the problem as there would be a lot more orange bits in the filter.

Cheers,
Morris
