Exhaust Noise???

Post by Steve »

I humbly present this to the forum for consideration and advice...

Lately I've noticed a fast, "thwipity, thwipity, thwipity" sound from my 712M. From previous (non-Pinz) related experience, I thought that it might be a cage bearing, or a U-joint going out.

A neighbor who has a nice collection of Land- and Range Rovers thinks it could be an exhaust leak.

The noise is most prevalent from within the cab. When I stick my head out the window, the sound is barely noticeable.

My speedometer indicator is rock steady, btw.

Thanks,

Steve

Use a piece of hose to listen thru at each exhaust connection while it is running. Also check for loose spark plugs.

Exhaust Noise???

Post by Steve »

Sir,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I'll check the plugs this afternoon!
The noise does not present itself when stopped...only when in motion, and revving the engine or while at idle (stopped) does not create this particular sound.
Thanks again.

Jim,

Thank you, Sir! The rear plug was slightly loose.
There is still a small amount of sound (about 1/4 of what was there before), so I will try your exhaust suggestion next.
Thanks again!
