Fixing the weatherstripping and rusty spots

Post by Jerbearyukon »

I have some small spots that i want to get on..I am not going to go nuts and re-paint. That was the reason I bought her, but I don't want her to rust out either.

WHere can you get weatherstripping for the doors?/

Thanks promiss I won't have any new threads for awhile

weather stripping

I have been in this contest to get seals for the doors for many months. The original stuff with formed corners is not available anymore. The guys from Europe are even trying to get it from the suppliers here in the US. The SAV part number for the original is (100) 7111763352 left and (101) 7111763342 right, it can be found in the Pinzgauer parts book under group 28 05 number 100 and 101.

I would try SAV, the stuff in long strips is available, check their website.

I was able to order one original piece, for the drivers door, with the formed corners and it has been sitting in the box till I could get the other door. Not going to happen. I, and everyone else is going to have to get the strips and join the corners.
I am going to sell the original piece I have and get the strips so that everything matches.
Good luck in your search.

Neutralize them. Sand rust down to bare metal. Apply a couple of coats of Rust Bullet or POR15. Rust Bullet works fine for areas that may see sun, POR 15 is sunlight sensitive requiring a top coat. Your choice of colors, black, greay or silver (Rust Bullet). Re-paint with O.D. flat if in an exterior area. Tough finding the match though. If your dealing with the under coating you may have to use a filler like Kool-Stop roof patch after neutralization.

Jerry,

I actually had my truck taken apart and replaced all the weather stripping. Ask for Sarah at Swiss Army. She knows it all and can save you some $$$$$. They have both original and after market weather stripping. My vehicle is tight as a drum.
