most of you use CB to communicate on the trail, but once you experience 2M bliss with a "real" radio, you'll wish the cb on your worst enemy!
the FCC just relaxed the regulations on licenses, eleminating the morse requirement on licenses above tech class. you will still need to take a exam, but the test is easy.

GMRS is a good band too if you don't want more than 5 miles (you can boost that with a repeater though). I found it to be more than equal or better than CB. Not much traffic, good quality radios from Motorola, Pryme,Kenwood and built to MIL spec. I am not referring to FRS which is much lower in power.
