FCC relaxed license requirements.

All,

most of you use CB to communicate on the trail, but once you experience 2M bliss with a "real" radio, you'll wish the cb on your worst enemy!

the FCC just relaxed the regulations on licenses, eleminating the morse requirement on licenses above tech class. you will still need to take a exam, but the test is easy.

GMRS is a good band too if you don't want more than 5 miles (you can boost that with a repeater though). I found it to be more than equal or better than CB. Not much traffic, good quality radios from Motorola, Pryme,Kenwood and built to MIL spec. I am not referring to FRS which is much lower in power.
GMRS does require a license but there is no test!

WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD SOURCE TO FIND OUT WHAT NEEDS TO BE STUDIED FOR TEST. ARE THERE STUDY GUIDES OUT THERE FOR THIS.

WHAT RADIO WOULD YOU RECCOMMEND LOOKING AT?

go to QRZ.com they have practice test you can take on line. The book we have been using which has over 200 questions straight from the test itself is "now you're talking"
