The general consensus was not to do it for a variety of reasons, so I heeded the warnings and did not get them siped.
 Fast forward to a more recent time…
I’d been using my Pinz as a daily driver for a while. The first few times after the road froze over was absolutely terrifying. I felt like a bobsled without a track. (For those of you who have never experienced a 270-degree slide in a Pinz, let me tell ya - it’s a very strange feeling when you’re sitting on top of the front tires.

We’ve had other vehicles siped, so I said, “Screw it, I’m getting it done!” and so I did.
Since then, I’ve been driving around through all the snow and ice and we’ve received in Colorado this year and haven’t had any more close-calls, even while swerving to avoid a startled fawn.

Now I’m not saying that the siping has turned the Pinz into a performance ice-monster, but it has CERTAINLY helped a lot more than I ever expected.
- Just wanted to follow up and share my experience thus far.

And BTW… I’ve been told by the tire manager that any problems experienced when I’m out wheelin’ next summer (like ‘chunking’ that a few people warned about) will be covered under warranty – although they don’t expect that to happen.
