Disk Brakes?Pics!
Its always been my understanding that the only real difference in the the older Pinzs and the diesel ones was just the motor. Did they have disk brakes as well or is this aftermarket?

Ron, you couldn't be more mistaken. The diesel is the least of all the changes ( just the most commonly known). This was posted on years ago ( prior to the different crashes).
Do a search on the Yahoo Pinzgauer group. The threads will be about 4 years ago.

Ron your pic is of the newer TD Pinz:
Disk brakes
Air suspension
wider track
longer wheelbase
water cooled
diesel fueled
diferent panels, windows, wheels
Other than being based on the same engineering they are completely different vehicles sharing very few parts, I think the axle boots are the same!

Axle boots are the same, but even the diffs and portals are different and geared differently. The t case is completely different in gearing and the input shaft is on the left side of the central tube. lockers are electro/vacuum operated.
The air suspension is unque to the 716, and the 718 is the same as the 712. The 716 also has a payload capacity equal to the 712.
Comparing 710/12s and 716/18s is like comparing a Porsche 356 to a 911.
Oh, btw the parking brake assembly and the discs are from the 710/12 also, but tailcone are completely different ( for those that like to complain about the parking brake on their truck, SDP saw no reason to change it)
Remembering these little details is taxing my brain....I hadn't thought about these things in years.

BTW, in the pic above, 716s do not have a part that is important to every 710/12. Anyone know?..... and Peter, don't tell them, Let them figure it out on their own. That goes for all you other TDs owners, let the gassers guess.

It's another of the obscure things about the TDs.
Also, when the engine is shut down, it automatically engages the front drive for parking
