Broken Axle - Question

Post by springhill »

Ok,
I finally had time to remove the rear broken axle on the 710. My problem is how to get the axle out of the drive housing. The repair manual doesn't say anything about removing the actual axle, so I assumed it would just pull out? I hate to take the drive housing apart unless I have to.
All you gurus please chime in!

By the way, it was a clean, lazer straight break and the axle had no rust.

Thanks

john

Sorry to say the only way to change the axle is to take the drive unit apart. Not very difficult so at least you have that going for you.

BTW missed you again, this time in Texas.

Thanks Mike,
I figured that was the case. I didn't mess with it much and decided to ask for advice. The new axle won't be here untill the end of the week.

We'll run into each other one of these days! I won't be leaving NM anytime soon as we are in a pretty serious drought. I hoping for some rain soon so I can go on vacation somewhere green!

take care

john
