I have not had this part #211953513J in my hands so I can't comment on it.

Note BOTH of these are for VW applications not for Pinz's, so the color of the wires may be different and the length of the wires may vary from your original Pinz parts.

From what I have seen the mechanical parts are the same and function in the same manner as the Pinz parts. The cowl mounting parts are also the same so there should be little problems mounting these.


If we're lucky they will be readily available in the future now that someone is reproducing them. If someone does buy one of the reproduction units please let us know what they think of the quality level.

I already have an original VW Type 2 switch as a spare otherwise I would get one myself.

Thanks for info on the new source. What is the difference between the 513G and the 513J ? I had been told that the 513J which is for the '72 Bus is the same as the Pinz switch but have not had anyone confirm it. I've never been able to find anyone with a 513J in stock and it is always listed at over $200.

It looks to me like the 513G should work fine. I just ordered one from ISP West. I'll post what it looks like when I get it.

They seem to be the same visually but the Switch I've actually held in my hands is the part #211953513G, as seen in my original post a while ago.

I have not had the other part #211953513J in my hands so I can't comment on it.

I get these at a local VW shop in town for around $75, but you must check to make sure the housings mate properly or just install the entire assembly(requires steering wheel removal) The main differences I find in the VW switch is the direction of the colored stripes on the wires, and small variations in the switch housing design.

I have lost one of the two screws for tightening the switch to the steering column. Does anyone have one or can someone direct me where I can find a replacement? It seems to work fine for now, but I constantly have to check the unit for tightness.

Miles, thanks to your pictures I was finally able to get my blinker assembly put back together properly so that it didn't wobble on the steering column. It sort of sagged for a couple of months before your pictures showed me that we had the half moon piece in wrong. Thank you again.

attaching screws are m4's. i had to buy some socket head caps at mcmaster, 12mm long, sand the head diameter down to fit into the conterbore. much better than original.

Great timing on this thread. My turn signal switch has been on the *blink* for a couple years and quit altogether last week. Then it started working again, but who knows for how long.
