Just bought a pinzy! need info?

Post by Torchd »

HI.

Im a newbie here. I've just bought a 716 1992 pinzy... and need information on that... like anything i can know about it.. engine specs, is it all time four wheel drive? how can i engage the diff locks?

Would some one know whats the PCD on the pinzy? it has five bolts and can i install 15 inch rims on it instead of 16's?

Would appreciate all the help.

Thanks.

Yours is one of the turbo diesels. Suggest you drop down to the pinz turbo diesel forum. They probably have answers

Start your thread anew in the Turbo Diesel section. From the little info you have given so far, you have a P90. The lug pattern on 716/18s is the same as used by G Wagons and some MB Sprinter vans. The typical larger tires fitted to the TDs are 285/75-16s. And iirc, 15" rims will not fit because of the calipers.

If you like, pm me with the VIN, and I may be able to give you a little more info.... or at least I'll know as much as you do about your truck.

And just to appease some of the slobbering gas Pinz owners, post a pic of your truck too.

From the diffs on out, about the ONLY thing in common between the 710/12s and the 716/18s are a couple of bearings in the portals, boots and tires. I have seen pics of factory disc brakes on a 712, and was done with the addition of brackets to hold the calipers.
On that 710, he never said TD brakes, but disc brakes with dual calipers in front. There is no indication of what wheels he used, or the lug pattern. A disc brake conversion done in California on a 710 used wheels from a MB with the hubs redrilled for that pattern. Just because someone list a bunch of different options/upgrades, do not assume they are from a newer Pinz. And definately do not read into a description something that may not be there, or used.
