Re: Pinz
I love the fire trucks with the roll up sides
It’s Canada legal... wonder if I could be converted to LHD?

Re: Pinz
Hey Dan, with money, anything is possible .
The thing with TDs is that the dash are handed left and right. believe it or not. RHD 716/18 have a vent dash which the LHD do not( larger dash on the right side than left). The molded glove box is also handed. Steering gear is handed as there is also welded assembly for the power steering ram which also needed to be removed and welded to the reverse side of the front extension.
Another fact on the UK made Pinzes, during the whole duration of the manufacture there, only 7 718s were manufactured as LHD with the 5 cyl TDI engine.(3 of 718K, 4 of 718M)
Those are some very interesting trucks.
2 things that I find very interesting are the custom grab bars at each door and the other is something 99.9% of the people would probably never catch. These firetrucks have 5500kg GVW which is 500kg more than the normal ATL 718. With careful examination of the photos, all these trucks have an air spring system installed instead of standard shocks at the furthest rear mount position. More than likely, taken from the 716s with the air compressor mounted under the glove box.
