I am switching to some new wheels and so I am putting up my six stock Pinzgauer rims up for sale. Each of these wheels has been sand blasted and the hot dipped galvanized - so they are as rust free as is possible. They have a dull gray finish which looks good (to me) on a Pinzgauer. They can be painted if you prefer the green color. One wheel has not been used since it was coated and it has a slight ding in the lip - but its not an issue to using it - see the photo (there was some sawdust on the rim in that photo - can provide better photos on request).
Here is a summary of the galvanizing process:
"The steel is immersed into a bath of molten zinc, which is heated between 820° F and 850° F. During the galvanizing process, the steel comes up to the bath temperature and the zinc metallurgically bonds to the steel, creating a series of highly abrasion-resistant zinc-iron alloy layers, topped by an impact resistant pure zinc layer. In this step, the material is completely immersed in a bath consisting of a minimum of 99% pure molten zinc at a temperature of about 840°F (449°C). The zinc metal then reacts with the iron on the steel surface to form a zinc/iron inter-metallic alloy."
I am asking $100 each or all six for $500. I can arrange shipping on a pallet or individual shipping via UPS. Also can deliver to NW Mogfest in Oregon in August. Shipping is extra.
Tires are not included and are being pulled off today (Aug 19th)
(SAV lists painted black rims at $125 each BTW - galvanizing costs about $30 a wheel and they have to be sandblasted first - another $25 or so...)
