712M/Camper Speed Freaks wanted

Post by ExpeditionImports »

So you have the dream a 70 mph, 712 Camper. Your dreams have come true. Picked up a consignment Pinzgauer and it is by far one of the fastest 712's we have driven that is not insanely modified. Sporting a 2.7 motor, 710 T-case, 33" tires and possible TD transmission, but need to verify. Pulling 4000 RPM at 70 MPH with room to run. Just completed a 145 mile test drive with camper installed and the truck was able to maintain 70 MPH on the flat and slight grades. Details will be listed on the web page when we get it all checked out and photographed.

Let Brian set the pace as we drove it back to the shop and it was a sight to see a 712 with a camper on its back passing traffic at 70 MPH on grades. Likes to run strong in the 3000-4000 RPM. Did not get to drive it at speed without the camper but it has to be fun.

With the 712 T-case and the TD tranny (and 32" diameter tires) I get an rpm almost exactly half of the mph (i.e., 60mph is 3,000 rpm) in 5th (OD in the TD tranny). Sounds like this one has the stock tranny with the 710 T-case.
