It didn't get any bids, start price was $7k. Surely that was a good deal?

I think there was a bid initially when I first saw it and then it was mysteriously retracted. Perhaps there is some kind of problem with it that they don't discuss. I'm sure the seller was asked a bunch of questions, but they didn't post them.

Curious.....

I wonder if it had to do with the mechanical condition.

"little rust, canvas top /doors ( canvas bad), cable lockers don't seem to be locking in"

Are locker problems common on Half's? If so, are they simple/cheap fixes or major repair/expensive?

From the Pix, the unit looked to be in pretty decent shape. If it were closer to me I would have at least looked at it

That price was way too low even with issues.

Jim, are there any pros or cons with the US version? That's what you have, right?

Larger headlamps, 2 speed wipers, D.O.T. label, MPH speedo :!:

Jim,
I don't have the details in front of me, but I thought the gearing was a little different as well between the North American and Swiss/Austrian military Haflingers. Is that the case?

Cheers,
Greg

I bought this Haflinger.
I had a Swiss army Haflinger about 18 years ago and regretted selling it. I'll never sell this one.
I think I did OK. Very original. One repaint. No structural rust or rust holes. Still with Lucas headlights. All lenses in good shape. No dents or scrapes. Definitely needs some mechanical help - brakes, a tune-up, investigate diff locks. Missing the oil bath air cleaner assembly and gas heater.
Once I can turn my attention to it, I'll have a lot of questions.

$6000 for it seems like a good deal I hadn't seen the relisted auction.

Jeremy,

Congratulations on what appears to be an excellent buy. Just one question. What is the black item on the rear engine cover on the passenger side?

Take care.

The sale price was more than the amount guessed, but it was still a very fair price.

The black box is the license plate light.

I've been looking at the old posts here, but if anyone can suggest a US source for parts, I'm all ears. (I dealt with the old P&M Ward in Yorkshire last time around with a Haflinger - 18 years ago)

We drove around the neighborhood on Sunday. Needs a wheel cylinder (at least). Two holes in exhaust. Got front diff lock working.

Regards,
Jeremy
