Looking for an M416 or similar small Mil trailer. Genuine Swiss trailer would be nice too.

Re: WTB: M416 Trailer
Look up Dinoot trailers , they are reproductions of the iconic m416 trailers that you build yourself , I just got a e-mail today that the retail models are now for sale for the 4 panels they are selling for about $785 . You just have to build or buy a trailer frame and fenders to finish it . I'm building one for my trip to the Whipsaw this summer .
Re: WTB: M416 Trailer
Thanks guys,
krick: I do watch SS, but didn't know about G503. Thanks for the link
Pat: I gotta have the real thing, and I think I could get a 416 for less than the total of a Dinoot.
and I have doubts the Dinoot would be robust enough for what I might drag it through.
Thanks for the info though...

Re: WTB: M416 Trailer
I built a trailer using the HF 44" x 48" frame. Welded a frame to go on top and infilled it with metal panels.
Really works well for towing behind the pinz and the Jeep. Used 24V lights, they are just a bit less bright on the
12V jeep system. Made the top removable for other uses and installed brackets to hold two mountain bikes on the
top.
Two Nato petrol cans over the fenders and a propane gas bottle in front for the stove.
Used a round piece left over from the Mog heater from the radio box (perfect fit for the propane bottle) to hold the gas bottle.
Probably have about $400 into it and it is great for camping and travels that I take.
The HF trailer frame is really sturdy for a light trailer.
Similar to the kit mentioned here.

Nice one on ebay from VA: http://www.ebay.com/itm/M100-Military-J ... y_Vehicles
Not the cheapest, but sounds like it's in great condition.

Re: WTB: M416 Trailer
To add to your choices , and if you can find one, the British Sankey MK3 trailers have a lot more to offer than the M416 or similar.

I had a M762 ( the flatbed version of the M416) and hated it. But I have the Sankey Mk3 to compare it to . I am currently upgrading my Mk2 field kitchen trailer by relocating lunette ring lower and a jockey wheel assembly from a MK3 so it will ride level and the jockey wheel rotates out of the way of the towing vehicle's rear door when opening.

Re: WTB: M416 Trailer
David, you have my interest piqued with that Mk3 trailer. I assume the interior width is about 2' wider than a -416?
How difficult are they to obtain in the US?

Re: WTB: M416 Trailer
With a quick scan of that page, it confused me more than help description.
Simply put, the MK3 has approx. 72"x66" tub, hydraulic disc brakes, lunette at 24"
The pervious model is a Mk2 widetrack. Mechanical drum brakes, the lunette is mounted above the frame at 28" ( the trailer is towed with an extreme nose down angle). this pic is of my MK2 widetrack field kitchen trailer tongue. It also has a vertical only jockey wheel
You do not want any of the earlier narrow track models.
With that said, I recently read that MoD has stopped surplus sales of the MK3 ( or sometimes called Wolf trailers).
I would only buy a MK2 widetrack IF you plan to make the upgrades I previously mentioned to make it friendly to open the rear door of the tow vehicle.
The rarity and complete kit of my kitchen trailer makes it feasible, but affects the originality of it, and value
