This is a nice , good running truck, ready to use, not a project. Showing 24K on the odometer, zinkalum body has been painted 2 tone black with Rhino Liner type spray. recent CV boot, full tune, interior insulated, 2 layers of reflectix and done with grey plastic corrugated cardboard panels. New ignition, coil, plugs, wires and tune up parts. No Rust , all working and running very well. New Halo headlights, wiper motor, wiper spray system and Oak moldings in the sides. Will post pictures soon . Oregon title on hand and Specialty plates on the truck .

sorry for the slow replies, the Truck is licensed with a Oregon Specialty plate , in oregon , that means it never has to go to DEQ or buy tags for it, permanent plate. title is also oregon. not sure what the rules are in california, but possibly could change the title, and keep the Oregon plate.

Yes, lots likely.

I brought a 1975 Volvo into CA, with no problems at all. Very easy transaction at DMV. Now if it was a 1976, that would be a different story.

You got lucky, other people have had to sell their trucks it got so bad and some have tags from their cousins house in NV. Pinz, G's and Volvo's all suffer from that issue. It often depends on the person you get at the DMV. Some see "Volvo" and think nothing of it, others punch in the model number and nothing will come up. The question is, what does that person do next? Modify the info to fit, or ask for clarification? If its the latter, you are screwed.

It does help a ton if it already has a title from another state, and even more if that title isn't brand new.

I could see how it could get messed-up/difficult very easly with DMV. Having done it a few times worked in my favor.

I would never try anything over a 1975 though.

To get CA plates/tags, any 1976 and newer requires smog (per DMV - but CARB thinks it should be 1975 and newer. Fortunately CA DMV and CARB don't seem to communicate with each other). So 1975 should work. If you are a AAA member, just go to them. California requires two locations that show the VIN number; in a Pinz, that is both the body and door plates. That's all I had to show AAA when I registered my '75 712W.

My former 1975 710k was registered in California by myself and it's previous owner. It maybe a roll of the dice.
