Well Jim you know I am there, Family and maybe a few more, Talked to Doug this morning nd theyg toa few inches over night (enough to open chain stops R2) but not likely to last till weekend, Holcomb valley has less than I reported to you last saturday, mostly mud and some snow, so unless we get another storm were getting muddy, either way should be some good wheeling.....

We got 4-6" of wet snow at 5500 ft in Idyllwild yesterday afternnoon, time and temperatures will tell if it stays at all. I'd hope that means decent snow at 7000 feet in Big Bear, but maybe not.

Still haven't decided if I'll make it for the first or not, I'll let you know as we get closer.

I will need to know about the snow because I have not messed with the chains since I got the truck.

Just pull them things out and check for any breaks in the links and any bad rust, if you need the install chart PM me or Jim he should also have it, I printed out a copy and keep it in a large zip lock bag in the glove box, they are fairly easy to install once you have done one, atleast you only have 4 to install I have 6....lol, but really not sure how much snow is going to be left I was out there on the 22nd and was quite a bit, todays report I got says there is a lot less, so we most likely will be dealing with more mud than snow, though there will be some snow left, but it will be fun non the less.....

Home Depo, or your local hardware store, I doubt we will need them if it doesn't snow.

I had 285/75R-16's and the chains fit just fine, I now have 265/85-R16's and they still fit,(snug but fit). Also Jim if we meet up at the Von's parking lot by the Starbucks, anybody who dont want to pack a lunch could go into the Von's deli and order a box lunch, (sandwich, chips, potato salad, and drink for about $6.00 or so), Im still consulting my maps and guide books on which would be the best trail to take, we do have lots of options.....

Mud or Snow basically same thing, same lose of traction and slipping around on the road ways, only diff is more time cleaning up after the mud...
