I've had the pleasure of owning my '74 710 for just over a year, and recently loaded up and made a trip from Wichita KS to visit a friend in Colorado to hit the trails. If all works correctly, I will have attached a link to an album with a selection of photos that I like the best...

After reading prior posts, I was inspired to try black bear pass -and it was great.

Boy -does Colorado have better places to play with my toy than Wichita!

Yep -the rear top was (and is) in pretty rough shape. I wanted a roof over my head when spending the night in the truck on the way. Fortunately I was able to find some canvas material in the right color to patch up the parts that needed it. Surprisingly enough it held up pretty well.

Also I thought it would be a good idea to have the rear roll bar installed in case I had an unfortunate event at speed on the highway or off-camber on the trail.

Awsome pics, loved the mountain goats, just proves how agile the pinz really is, also makes me want to load up the 712 and go do black bear myself, the more I wheel the truck and the more pics I see of tought trails, the more I am convinced there is nothing tough for the pinz to conquor.

WOW! I bet that was one totally cool trip, especially Black Bear Pass. The goats hanging around the truck is pretty neat too. One of these days...

Love the shots! How did you like my "backyard/office?" I live in Telluride and own and operate a local tour company. We drive the same vehicles on the same roads all summer long. When were you there? I was doing exactly the same type of trip to Moab (camping out of the truck) right around that same time, judging by the snow level in the photos. I thought that driving 3 hrs. to Moab (10/12-10/18) was a lot of highway! Sweet!

Thanks to everyone for the kind words -the trip was certainly a lot of fun! If any of you are ever in Colorado -black bear is one to try -it's beautiful and can get your blood flowing.

Twin P, Love your neck of the woods. If your company has the red Pinzgauers, I actually saw one as we headed into town. My Pinz radar went off, and I had to make a stop and take a shot on my camera phone. It's interesting to note that my truck seems to turn a lot less heads in Colorado -must be a little more common than they are here in KS.

If I remember correctly, I had seen some shots of your tour that some tourists had taken, as well as a story or two posted. Those combined were part of what convinced me that I had to go there. We camped a little ways out from Ridgeway, which was absolutely beautiful -but very cold at night. I was there the week of the 24th if I remember right, but we did hit a lot of the state.

I'll try to find a link to the story the tourist wrote about riding in the Pinzgauer. The fellow must have had a good sense of humor and some background in writing, as it was a lot of fun just to read.
