I live in Los Angeles CA I was wondering where some 4x4 trails. I mostly go to Gorman and Azusa canyon but I was looking for better trails.I'm a Long time spectator of this forum first time writing in it. I own 71 pinz 710k and I love it nothing else like it!

When I lived in San Diego, I would go on trails and runs with them. Mostly a jeep group, but I was the only pinz and the only Mog when I had one.
They post runs periodically and are knowledgable of some good places to wheel.

They had never seen a pinz before and I used to get a kick out of them asking if I thought my rig could 'make it" with the rest of the jeeps. " I'll try to keep up"

Lots of people from SoCal to check with...

I'm from Sonora and can only suggest areas like Calico (near Barstow) and west of Truckhaven (west of Salton Sea) .

Some of the them are a little dated but they are a very good and detailed reference to many off road areas in California.

Another useful guide is Backcountry Adventures Southern California from Adler Publishing -

Unfortunately, this book is out of print but you may find used copies on the internet or used book shops. The Northern California version is still available from the publisher.

The California Trail Users Coalition puts out a very good series of maps for different areas n Southern California. I find the San Bernardino map particularly useful. -

The Friends of Jawbone put out a similar map for Jawbone Canyon and the Dove Springs OHV area -

If you ever get North on Hwy 14 you need to check out Jawbone Station. They have a big selection of maps and guide books for the Mojave desert and elsewhere in Southern California -

Lastly, if you have a 2m ham radio listen in on the Outdoor Adventure USA weekly net at 7:30PM, Thursdays, on the Keller Peak repeater (146.385+ Mhz, pl 146.2). They periodically have destination related nets. The past nets have been recorded and are available at -

Alot of great info I actually just got home from Vegas today and saw a group of four wheelers on my way back after I passed Victorville heading down the mountain pass I was on the freeway I could see them towards my left it looked like there were alot of trails on does mountain, does anyone know the name of does trails? But thanks for all info

If it was around Hwy 138, a few miles before the 15/215 split, it might be Cleghorn Trail.

Yeah it was before 215/15 split how is that trail?

I'm working on getting access to one of the best areas in Southern Cali. I kind of have to keep it under wraps for now so as not to screw it up.

Well, I have some mixed news. I was working on getting us access to Los Coyotes Indian reservation in Warner Springs. Los Coyotes has some of the best wheeling south of the Rubicon, but was closed down to 4 wheeling about 7 years ago due to abuse of the land.

A few months, the Tierra del Sol off road group got access to the land as a group and were able to camp and use a limited amount of the trails.

I have a friend who is friends with the tribal leaders, and was hoping to be able to get access, however, they are still not allowing 4 wheeling for individuals currently. However, we may be able to go as a group if anyone is interested. If I get a decent response, I'll go talk to the tribal elders and see if we can get access and play in one of the most scenic and challenging off road areas in Southern California.
