Clutch issues today!

Driving in on a fine Friday and got into some stop and go traffic
All was fine but at one point I depressed the clutch pedal and I felt something give - then I could not get it in gear
I am hoping it is just the cable (as the cable looks slack where it comes out of the tube) but will have to take a look tonight or tomorrow.
Anyways - onto a flat bed and 3 hours late to the office

Sorry to her this. Hope it is something fairly easy to fix.

Only had about 20 mins to take a look tonight
Looks like it is not just a simple cable fix but can't see much (ie can't see fork etc)
Not looking good
Open to things to check 1st before I attempt to rip it all apart!

I suppose that if it is not a cable or linkage issue it will be drop the engine to have a look in the clutch itself - however in my previous experience with cable clutches (not Haffies though) it will be a cable or cable mount issue.
Good luck

I tend to agree - cable mount or spring is what I'm thinking so may pull the motor today so I can take a look

Engine out in a couple hours (love these vehicles!)
But I don't see any major issues but I also have little clue what to look for as I am just a backyard mechanic
Spring, fork and mount look ok to me - not a ton of pressure required to push back and forth (I can do it with 1 finger but that is probably because clutch springs are not in the equation any more?
Now that engine is out it may just be a stretched cable
Time to redo engine perhaps and get engine compartment reprinted (when what I really want to do is drive it in the limited Canadian summer!)
Will get a better picture of spring and other parts

Few parts on order - will keep the thread up to date with progress once I get some time to work on it

So if you are ordering parts you must know what the issue is - any clues
Cheers

Post before sort of said it - looks like just the cable (I am assuming streched) but I ordered a few other things while all is opened up.
Will do a final post once confirmed

If the cable was stretching, the clutch action would just get slowly worse - as you felt something give and then no clutch I would be more inclined to think something broke.

Well for a few days leading up to it I was thinking the pedal was getting just a bit lower (one of those things you think you are imagining) and when it did go out what I felt was not a sharp or hard snap but just when I pressed the pedal I knew something was up - ie more give or slack then 'normal' (kind of stuff you only know by regular driving of the vehicle as you get to 'know' it)
Have looked at all parts and I can't see anything broken or bent (springs, fork etc) so will start with cable and go from there.
When it did fail then I could not get it into any gear but before fail it shifted fine (no grinding etc)

Just waiting for new cable to arrive
Happened where it comes out of front tube and goes into long rear tube
Hope it arrives in time for next weekends trail ride!

Lets hope that is the culprit - check the alignment between the two tubes as it fraying there suggests it has been rubbing on one or other of the edges of the tubes.
Put the end of the new cable in the tube by a couple of inches, then start smearing the cable with grease, that way the end which comes out won't drag . push the grease out of the tube whilst you put the cable in. Also means the end is easier to deal with when connecting up. Can be covered in grease afterwards.
