Alf's 6x6 Haflinger - UK

Post by Alf6x6 »

These are a few pictures of my 6x6 Haflinger I made back in 2000 for the 6x6 challenge. I believe the only other one to have been made was a conversion by one of the original factory workers in Austria.

I've been making larger engines for these since 1978, where I started with a 700cc. Since then I've moved up to a 750cc, 825cc and now I'm on a 850cc Haflinger engine.

The front axle also has disc brakes.

The middle axle also had a partial steer, but I've since removed this as my MOT guy wasn't keen on the number of steering track rod ends.

Unfortunately it had an accident with a tree on one of the last UK meets, so I am now in the process of stripping it down to repaint it, and fit a new gearbox (as I've lost reverse gear) and tidy up the body work.

That is amazing!
Do you have a build thread or a link to some info on how you built it?
Cheers,

Love the rear leaf spring set up. Did you cut and weld 2 front diff castings to make the middle diff housing? Any pic's of just the drive line layout?

I like that.... Have you managed to find out any thing more about it? I don't suppose so if it was just a picture floating about the Internet.

Sorry no - was a pic that was amongst other Haflinger pics - the number plate is from the State of Victoria and is most likely from the 70s though the pic looks later.

:D Small world mate!

I saved a whole lot of old photo's that Barry Jones was going to throw out, back when Haflinger Sales and Service (or Haflinger Pinzgauer Enterprises) was closing down in the 1980's ......Barry and Jan owned the business.
When I got them home, I made them into a collage picture (popular back in those days) which still hangs on my den wall today!

That Haflinger is a 6X4 only.

Hey,

I think the picture of the 6x4 comes off my website... And I had asked Peter to scan it for me... :-)
Peter, you'd be very welcome to scan the other photos as well... very interesting pics! :D

Kind regards,
Constantin
