I am looking for opinions on a 40 year old Haflinger and a Polaris Ranger ATV for off road use. Does the advantage to a brand new Ranger out weigh the durability of the Haflinger? Which would be more dependable? Thanks

Ranger= off road only
Haflinger= street legal + off road
Both can cost a fortune to fix

Ranger = faster.
Haflinger = 1/2 ton payload and 300KG towing capability.
Ranger= 1 seater (2 if you are lucky)
Haflinger = 2 seater as standard and 4 or even 6 with the extra seats in the back)
Ranger = wet weather gear -none (you need to wear waterproofs)
Haflnger = canvas cab / fibreglass top / fibre glass cab / canvas top for passenger protection.
Ranger = New, shouldn't break down too soon.
Hafliner = newest ones are 30 + years old, so could well break down at anytime
Really depends on what you want the vehicle to do for you! Each has their good points and their bad.

Ranger has less ground clearance and is stable offroad - Haflinger with portals has much more ground clearance but is unstable offroad and tends to fall over and have a sleep.
