Have you checked any of the VW LTs, or Volvos that use the same engine? There is next to nothing over here that uses the 2.4 engine other than the '80s Volvos... and not too many of them either.

Hi Garymartin,

Do you have the parts manual? There is a drawing of the AC system with some parts numbers in it.

It would be great if you eventually share with us your experience about installing AC on TD Pinz!

Hi,
Thanks Dave I will check some vw sites over here.
Hi, Ugo, I have parts manual, and access to yahoo forum, the compressor part # are for a 24v compressor, have been in contact with S-TEC in Austria they do not stock or have any part # for 12v. So i am thinking engine mount braket is set up for 24v compressor only. So further fabrication might be the only option! My pinzi has been in a red dot recomended suplier/fitter for10 days now(in Kent),dont think they anticipated any difficulty in fitting.(totaly missed war & peace show.)
yes Ugo I will share my experience about the insallation, at the moment its VERY FRUSTRATING. Any further help will be most welcome.

12V and 24V compresors differ only in the solenoid which cause the cluch to engage / disengage.
Maybe you can find a 12V solenid for replacement.
Another chance would be contacting Ms. Bertalanics at SDP. They do have part numbers for 12V components (actually, they helped me for some 12V relays for daytime running lights activation I have in my civilian 716k).

Hello fesm_ndt sorry about the delay in a reply but things are very hectic at the moment. No pics yet, will take some this weekend weather permitting.the box on top is made by red dot corporation,(recommended by Mr Dunn) Model R-6100. I need to re insulate the cab area and engine covers, erect some kind of curtain behind rear side doors to enclose front area, will also look at some ideas of getting rid of more heat from engine area.

Hello hardro33 have sent you a PM.

This is from Gary
Here are some pics of my air con unit. Red dot R-6100, compressor Seltec
45011.fitted to engine mount part #7161130212, after some difficulty fitting
the compressor some further fabrication on a bolt under compressor was
needed (sorry no pics).on inspection yesterday, noticed slight chaffing on a
hose caused by comp belt, have since tied hose/cables further away from
comp. This was all fitted by a UK company based in Kent.
I'm not positive, but I will check. I think the mounting bracket may be the same as what was fitted to the Swedish Pinzes for the secondary Bosch pump for the hydraulic winch.

Having removed one of the swedish hydraulic winches I can say that the compressor looks to be mounted in the same place as the hydraulic pump, so it's either the same bracket one a new one fabricated to fit in the same position.

Yes, I removed the pump on the Pink Cow too, but left the bracket on the engine, in case I decided to add it back or install a/c . .....but that is a bit of a moot point with a softtop. ...

I'll try to look at my engine compartment in the next few days to identify the bracket

I've been running the Redot unit on my Pinz for 2yrs now without any issues. Great units.
