Cruel - I don't get it. I did want her to start thinking about what actually was going on though. You obviuosly don't know me very well. Again I was not belittling the fact that someone got killed because some idiots decide to drive a way and then drag a porr kid..that was not what I was talking about.
What I don't like is the government jumping in everytime something happens and starts nipping away at MY FREEDOM. I should have the power to make decisions that suit me WITHIN REASON.
If they are really interested in saving lives then they should BAN VEHICLES, BOOSE, CIGARETTES etc PERIOD....but there's money in that so they won't do it.
Even telling me I have to wear a seat belt...can't remember voting on this either. A seat belt would have killed my mom and saved my brother. Personally I wear them, but I should still have the CHOICE.
Wait till they pass the identity cards and give it a few years and then we can come back to this subject and we may have a different point of view. What is that all about REALLY. I think you better think long and hard about that one.
THey have already made us register our weapons in CANADA, but beofre they did that they passed a law about 3 years prior (snaeky buggers) that they can sieze any registered weapons without a warrant...any guesses why...I have a few, but I will let you stew about it for awhile.
JUST ASK THE AUSSIES WHAT HAPPENED TO THEIR GUNS

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry guys
Now I feel REAL STUPID
So where was I oh something good......awllllllllllllllllllllllrightyyyyyyyyyyyyy then.
So I am ready to pull out. Well this couple starts flashing there lights at me and waving. So I stop.
This young gal gets out of the truck and runs over...I thought she was going to come unglued. Behind her walks a mountain of a guy (TODD).
She asks if she can get a picture.....of course. I asked if she wanted to get in the drivers seat (have pics and video...have to figure out how to show you guys it's priceless).

She can't believe she can actually sit in it. So Todd and I take pics and then Todd gets in...move the seat way back and I 'll call rusty (friendly giant).

She is such a sweety - just bubbling. So I ask them if they want to go for a short ride. She started jumping u[p and down and yelling YES YES...
So I put them in the back seat cause the front was full of goodies and a cooler etc. So we drove behind the station down a dirt road...they kept telling me how COOOOOOOOOl it was - even without hearing protection.
So I turned it around and asked Todd if he wanted to drive her back. You would have thought I asked if he would like a thousand dollars. He jumped in and I gave hinm a quick tour of the gear etc and I jumped in the back and started filming. He had a smile the went from ear to ear and she just kept asking him how he liked it etc.
We made it back to the station and he was already wondering which vehicle he could sell to get one. That made my day especially after the gasing up scenario. So we said our good byes and she gave me a BIG HUG and I was off to Penticton.
Climbing out of the area is a huge pass - very slow going in a Pinz, but scenic as all get out. There was an avalanche warning so I traveled only about 15 miles and we all got stopped to wait for them to clear the roads.
I thought this will be a great time to make breakfast. So I dove into the cooler got the OJ , milk, bowl and cereal and pour a cup of OJ and I sat on the guard rail eating breakfast. We were stopped for 20 minutes so I have numerous people coming over to see the Pinz. Very different takes on it. Everywhere from Coooool to so what kind of mileage do you get from it, can't be very invironmentally friendly...oh well I bit my tongue.
I met some snowboarders and they thought she was great.

I continued on to Penticton to see my Mom and Aunt. My mom is 82 and she just
her eyes at me. Son what in the heck did you buy this for. I explained about all the places I hunt and fish etc and then she saw what was left of the light I guess.
In the morning I started her up and she barely started. The light came back on too. The next stop was NAPA in Kelowna about an hour away. I figured if I am going to tear her apart and fix it it might just as well be in front of a parts store.
I am just starting to pull her apart when....well this is just unbelievable.
Sorry guys supper is ready and it's the third call..have to go or go hunger....I will have to continue this tomorrow or later tonight.
Sorry Jer Bear

Continuing the trip: So I pull into NAPA expecting the worst. No parts for a PINZ - Nobody even haven seen one before you know the story. So I just get parked and another...get it another PINZ rolls up. What are the chances of that. I hadn't seen another one sice Denver.
This guy gets out walks over. He couldn't believe it either. His name is Paul Goodmunson (hopefully I spelt it right). He asks me what's going on and I tell him about the Pinz not charging. He tells me his alternator died too and that there was a guy in town who fixed his "FIXED HIS"...what luck.

So I had my cowling off so I just packed everything up and followed him. Well have you ever drove a Pinz with the cover off....LOUD is an understatement, but I didn't want to loose Paul so I left the headphones off. 4 blaocks and I think I went deaf.

We got to where he thought they were but they had moved. So before we took off again I got on the headphones (way better). We ended up at Wards repair shop. Now again I am expecting the worst. Larry (the owner) says "well I can't look at it right away" so I'm thinking 1-2 days. He says in about 20 minutes I can fix it.......my jaw must have dropped to the ground cause my teeth are still a little loose.

So then Paul starts tearing the alternator out for me. Can I say enough about the people I met. WHolly cow...great people. He helped me get it all apart and getting the fan and alternator out isn't the easiest job either.
I was so thankful I gave him a pinz short sleeved shirt just as a token of my gratitude. So Larry and Eric got my alternator fixed and then it wasn't charging so they had to fool the alternator and run a phoney field to the regulator and got me going again.
Meanwhile I hadn't though of charging the batteries while this was all going on. So we got a bit of a charge on them and I was off. Night driving so the batteries didn't get a chance to charge up very good and when I shut her off just outside of Prince George (needed a rest - you can check the mileage) she was a bit low. I crawled int he back put the Webasto on low and jumped in the sleeping bag and slept for about 3 hours. GOt up she reluctanly started so I drove to Liard Hotsprings before shutting her off. I pulled up to the pumps (8:30 pm). Coming into Liard she was hesitating so I shut off the lights and coasted up to the pumps. I wasn't thinking and shut her off. Yeah I know she wouldn't go after that. They had a charger so we pulled her away from the pumps and I got a room for the night.

Charged the batteries overnight. Got up to a very crisp morning minus 20 celsius. Icy roads and bison all over the roads. Saw moose and caribou and even a lynx on the way home though.

Go to the Yukon Border and I was just so glad to be that close to HOME.

Another 6 hours put me in my yard...yes I was home - March 10th - 5 pm and 7884 KMS since Mt Horeb I was in my back yard.

I know this has been one long thread and I have had fun keeping you posted. Sorry to keep you hanging sometimes but I don't type very fast and I have been very tired on the trip...so thanks for bearing with me.
Like Texas Pinz said"It seems we have been on this trip together"..Maybe someday all can.
Thanks to all the people that helped make this trip so wonderful and an adventure.
George and the guys at Helwig - Steve - Paul Underwood and Frank - Paul in KC - Dennis - Linda - Savanah - their kids - John - Paul - Barrett - Orlando - Mike Kinsey - Wayne and Dave - Paul Goodmunson - Larry and Eric - George and Rick (?) - in Liard. If I have missed anyone please forgive me it was a wild ride and of course all of you guys that have been following me along.
Cheers Jer Bear

Fantastic record of your trip Jerbear!
I was green with envy (not St. Paddy's) seeing the mountains and wildlife! I am a Westerner at heart...just stuck in Toronto by circumstance (I guess I must have done something bad in a previous life
)
What a great adventure.
Cheers

When you have some adversity it always makes for memories. I have had many trips but the ones I remember most are the ones that had OBSTACLES to overcome
.
Have some snow falling and I have to go and hook up a boiler for a friend and then it's off to see my horse (he must be wondering where the heck I am)
.
Then it's time for an afternoon NAP
....yeah baby..Hockey playoffs start for us next week and I have to get my internet business back on track...all in a days work/play
