Comfortable Driver's seat replacement

Post by Pinzczech »

I am 6'1" and the stock seat is not working for me on longer trips and good ideas for replacing the front seats of a Pinz?

Some have used Honda CRX seats. The main problem is the narrow area between the doors & engine cover. There are also new seat options from people like Expedition Imports as well
Just get in and go....

I installed some Beard Rhino suspension seats in my Pinzgauer and I find them far more comfortable than the stock seats and the driver's seat is about 1" lower. The suspension seat really helps off road. The biggest drawback is that the bottom cushion is on the short side which hasn't been a problem for me but it takes some getting used to.

I need to post a follow up review to my original posting on these seats.

Hello there,

Here in Europe the most commonly used replacement seat are the seats from a SMART - unfortunately those are probably impossible to get in the USA

Here is a picture of them

Otherwise any other sport seat comming from a Porsche and/or a Lotus will work - but those are even here in Europe very expensive.

I am 6`4" and the Smart seats work fine for me. They hold you well on the sides and have an integrated head rest.

Regards,

Jacques

Wife has a sense of humor but I don't think she would take kindly to my removeing her Smart car seats for the Pinz.

Maybe she'll allow it just on week ends - or for some occasional trips, if she can go with you. She will immediately feel comfortable in your Pinz.

Your wife seems to be enjoying jokes. If she doesn't want to give her seats away then pimp her ride.

They just started selling the Smart in the US in January. We were lucky enough to find one. We are on the waiting list, year and a half wait, for another one. They are pretty neat little cars.
Since I already have aftermarket seats in both my Pinzies I don't think she will let me near them. If you have not seen the video on youtube of the Smart set on a mog chasis, it is worth a laugh.

And of course the Haffy will never be seen doing this

PinzCzech,

I installed seats from a KIA, they work fine for me but they LIFT you about one inch (2.54cm).

By the way, my wife and I traveled in the Czech Republic 2 years ago and just loved it :P ,
we could have spent another week in Praha and Cesky Krumlov.

Mike, don't I remember reading something from you here that you have been in a total of 14 wrecks? Could that maybe why she won't let you near it? Just wondering.

Yeah, but I think it has more to do with the way I want to drive the smart that keeps her from letting me drive it. I think it would be fun to take out and do some drifting with but she is not such a big fan of that.
