712 questions

Post by surftodd »

I just got done reading Gilbarts message and got some good info. I am trying to make the same decision too. Never though of asking if someone would help e out with a quick showing of their Pinz though..so if there is anyone with a 710 or a 712 on the East End of Long Island NY, that wouldn't mind catching up one day and showing off their Pinz, It would be greatly appreciated.

Also, how are they on soft sand? I think the 710 would be better..
Do you think the 710 would carry itself filled with passengers over soft sand?
I am use to driving a tacoma that has never needed to be aired down and flys over the sand with 7 people in it... How would the Pinz match up...

The sand is pretty course out here and likes to sink trucks down to the frame...usually Hummers ( give or take some driver skills)

Thanks

My 710 is my surf fishing vehicle in North Carolina. I have no trouble with sand. I do pull alot of jeeps and rovers out of the sand who are stuck though.

ka,

I live in Durham, NC, but I drive to the coast and fish the Outer Banks. 3 trips this year.
It's about a 4 hr. drive, but its a great ride.

Absolutely.
There are two reasons to air down your tires. One is for traction, your tires cup the sand. The second reason is that fully inflated tires cut into the sand and create ruts. I take mine down to 20-25 lbs. Thats just my preference

Surftodd,

I live in Corning NY. I know that is a few hours west of Long Island, but if you come out this way, I'd be glad to get you a spin in my 712.

At the moment I plan to go to Rausch Creek PA. in January for a winter trail ride. You might find that fun, even though it would not be on sand.

Critter- I agree with the airing down. It does help, but when I started driving the Tacomas on the sand, I noticed that they drove just as well without airing down when medium size mud tires are put on them. They seem to create minimum ruts and have great traction.
I think it is mostly about the Kumho MTs tire.....which I will end up installing on the Pinz..when I get one that is..

Thanks for the outlook....even if I need to start airing down again-it will be worth it
