May Treffen in Wisconsin

Post by Michael J. Fodor »

:D Paul Underwood, Mike Rhude and myself, along with pinz's owners in Indiana and Wisconsin have been discussing a May Treffen in Wisconsin. This Treffen though not equal to KY, CO, etc. would be a chance for midwesterners to meet campout, and drive the Southwestern portion of Wisconsin and celebrate Pauls' accomplishments in Wisconsin. If you are interested in a treffen in the mid west contact Paul, any and all ideas are welcome !
Thanks Mike Fodor Goshen, Indiana.

THE DATE AND LOCATION ARE SET

We've made the decision that the treffen will be held May 28-31 at McCaslin Mountain, a stie about 70 mi. north of Green Bay, WI, on the southern border of the Nicolet National Forest. It isn't the Rocky Mountains, but we should have fun.

Here are a few pictures of the place, etc.:

They told me to expect some mudholes, but dried out trails for the most part by then.

Here is a link to their campground:

I've discussed campsites for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights (5/28-5/30), to allow people to arrive Thursday and depart Sunday. (Please feel free to go earlier and/or stay later, too.)

To simplify things, we're asking you to make your own campsite reservations. Please contact the campground directly at: (715) 757-3734. It's a family-run place, and you'll be talking with Edith, Michael, or Barb. We've chosen not to limit this to Pinzgauer owners only. Anyone's welcome to come along on the campout.

Be sure to read through their vehicle requirements, to make sure your truck/ATV will pass inspection. The full details are on their website.

**************************

For anyone interested in coming one day early for an interesting run in the hills near Blue Mounds, Wis., we may also be holding a one-day ride on Wednesday, May 27. This is weather dependent. Because this would be held on private land, only Pinzgauers will be allowed for this drive. I'll post more details as the date approaches. Some local camping is available, so please let me know if you might attend this early event and would like help finding a nice place for that night.

This is awesome! A year ago it would have been illegal!

Well at least something got straightened out in the last year!! :D

Hey Russ, that brought a grin to my face. I'd almost forgotten about all that BS. Good observation.

I hope our DOT appreciates all the extra Pinz's coming into the state.

In case I forgot to mention it, you're all invited.

Just bringing this post up for one last notice.

Despite any current concerns over Pinzgauer registration in Wisconsin, the Treffen is definitely on schedule for next week. (FYI, 2 Pinz's were recently registered here, so perhaps the concerns are unfounded.)

At last check, there were plenty of campsites available in case anyone shows up unexpectedly.

See you all next week. Bring your cameras, or nobody will believe that we actually did it!
