Need Insurance help- What was the MSRP of a Pinz in 1974?

So thats what my insurance company wants to know- how much did a Pingauer 710m sell for brand new in 1974? Any one know and/or have proof (a sales brochure, receipt, etc). Thanks!

1978 Car & Driver civilian import 710k version estimated $30,000 as tested. Military versions from what I understand cost as much or more depending on the contracts.

That's the first time I've ever heard that request.

Perhaps they'll let you pay the premiums in 1974 dollars!

Ya- I am not having good luck with insurance companies. No from Progressive, no from Geico, no from (well one or two others)... State Farm seems to want my business- my agent has thus far been very helpful and has gone the extra mile to research the vehicle, etc. Still, he says it has to be insured as "a commercial vehicle for private use". I just dont see how some of you had such an easy time? :?:

Progressive has been great (I guess they're all great until you have an accident and need them to do something). You might call them directly and ask why you're having problems where you are compared to other Progressive customers in other states.

I did speak with them directly, and asked that question (actually, I read one of your posts from a while back about Progressive and was excited that I might be able to use them as I have 4 other vehicles with them) but no help. And I did not offer any additional information about the vehicle (as you guys suggested). State Farm might end up getting a more business from me than just the Pinz.

State Farm would not cover mine, (I had been insured by them for over 30 years) but another inmate here in PDX has his Pinz insured by them. I had Progressive for 6 months, then shopped & found Liberty Mutual Insurance. They had the lowest overall cost so I gave them all of my insurance.

Must be a regional thing on coverage between insurers?

I had progressive for a while until an audit. They go as far as putting on there website they don't insure pinzgauers.

That’s their commercial insurance side, I wonder if their private party side has the same rules? It’s an interesting theme of the insurance threads that it seems to depend more on the agent involved than the company. When I went for insurance I found that some of the agents didn’t want to do the work involved in insuring a vehicle that wasn’t “main stream”.

That's an impressive list of vehicles. I'm flattered that they'd even mention Pinzgauers and Unimogs by name. (I'm swelling with pride.)

Sorry to see they don't insure mammogram vans either...I'm sure there's a smart a$$ comments we can apply to that one!

Farmer's insurance handles my two Haflingers and my Volvo C303. My agent's only comment was that they are cool.

My State Farm agent checked for me, and said that State Farm has no prohibitions against Pinzgauers (nation wide). However, the agent has some influence in how they treat and input an insurance policy. Check with another agent - go ahead and tell them that you are shopping for an agent who will work with you and your vehicle.

I have full coverage (collision, comprehensive, and liability) on both my trucks for similar to less costs than my cars!

When I got my 712 in Washington State, I tried Farmers (who has all my cars/house/umbrella etc...), Progressive, Geico, State Farm, AAA and some other's I can't remember. NONE would write a policy (good driving record, no prior claims, others in the same state had different luck-see prior thread).

I had two choices, Hagerty and American Modern Collector Vehicle. Really no difference in the policies, I'm allowed to drive the pinz on a logging road by AMCV (thier definition of a road is anything on a map). Yearly cost:$ 121.00.
All I wanted was enough to get the tabs/license.

Given what I've seen friends go through with claims on regular cars, I would bet that any claim to any insurance under any policy on a Pinzgauer would be met with difficulty and unhappiness. Would like to hear other's experiences in the claims area.
