Pinzgauer vs Garge Door

Post by s205designs »

Hi All,

I tried searching the forum but had difficulty finding exact measurements. One of the last hurdles in the process of wanting a pinzgauer for me is to figure out if it would fit in my garage. While the ceiling on my garage is quite high... corporate greed on these cookie cutter homes resulted in only a 7 foot door. I have 83 inches to be exact from the cement to the headliner. Online there are dimensions for the pinz stating everything from 80-85". Do any of the members here fit their trucks through a standard 4 panel garage door and do you think 83" will fit a pinz?

Or better yet, anyone have dimensions of their garage opening that they know a pinz will fit?

Thanks in advance
J

I had to completely redo the header and change from 33's to 31's and now I have 1/2 inch clear. The back is taller than the front on a pinz, don't just measure the cab height.

Update your profile to show where you are.

edit: Had to remove the antenna mount and replace it with a metal flat plate piece.

Don't forget roof hatch or antenna's... that would ruin your day. Tire size spring sag and a bunch of undetermined variables like how loaded or tire pressure all come into play. Even approach angle of the driveway will matter.

thanks for the quick reply. my house is higher than the street so might hurt the situation. I am not fearful of airing down if that would be enough but I don't have a feel how much room one can gain by doing so. thoughts? im considering a soft top since I believe it is shorter.

Just make sure your not airing down the Maloyas as they could be empty and you'd be lucky to gain 1\2 inch they are so stiff!!!!

My K measures 88" with the antenna removed, 31" tires. So at least 90"+ on the opening. As I built my own house I installed a tall bay with 14' ceiling where the car lift in installed.

R A I N !! Time to move Mozo under wraps. An alternative to
the garage too low to get her in :( :)

Had this made by a guy who does Boat and Aircraft covers.
Oh! The Swiss cross was done later to fix over eager Mice
that eat a hole in the cover while in summer storage -- a
never ending battle of Mouse and man up in the hills.

That's a pretty nice looking cover, I think the end result of the conversation is an 83" door will not fit a pinz no matter what is done short of major changes...
