Re: exhaust question.....
The muffler from Scott at EI has a slightly deeper tone than the original. I find it more pleasing to the ear. However it is not what I would consider a "high performance" muffler along the lines that you find for more modern vehicles. From past experience with exhaust leaks at the slip-joint connection in front of the heat exchanger I can tell you that the level of back pressure supplied by the entire exhaust system has a definite effect on how well the Pinz runs. Too little back pressure and the Pinz loses power or idles poorly.
Other forum members have had success with different mufflers. I suggest using the search function to check some previous threads to see what others have done.

Re: exhaust question.....
Dennis (@ LinDen) put a basic Turbo muffler on mine, and replaced the slip joints with mesh flex pipe. Runs better, a little quicker-revving, but noisier. Sounds like a teenager's Honda. It's fine with me, but the wife finds it annoying. Foam earplugs are cheap,

Especially if it has become a transport for your wife who may be a bit more sensitive than your average Swiss chocolate factory worker.
