Paul
As we have chatted over the phone, I wish to reiterate "Bloody Good Show"!
That was a hard up hill task and a "bother" created by a few people behind closed doors that clearly got out of hand and took lot of heavy weights to correct it.
To lesser extent anyone of us can experience a unwarrantied adverse "public" reaction to Pinzgauers and I have had someone really in my face in Home Depot aggressively telling me what an ugly, unsafe, polluting piece of junk it was.

Over the past few years I have had an on going irritation with our local county officials which came to a head several months ago! The underlying gripe --yes Pinzgauers.
Quote" these vehicles are ugly, offensive, unsafe, and in many cases in such a state of dis-repair that they are an eyesore in the neighbourhood.
To reduce the visually offensive nature of this vehicle I now have to store these trucks in a nearby fenced yard away from sight.
This was a compromise situation which I hammered out by negotiation with planning and zoning.
To get to this position I ended up getting some advise from a local attorney that was well connected to the offiicals within the county including the commissioner with whome I spoke at a later date.

Now in law it would seem that county and Ste offiicals have a fairly robust defense in cases of this, and indeed have an immunity to such claims of prejudice, discrimination and such like--HOWEVER , they do not have immunity to the infringements of your CIVIL RIGHTS, as prescribed in the Constitution.
So in short a little word was planted in the correct place that indicated that I was considering a law suit against Jefferson Cyt for the infringement of my civil rights and constitutional law. A truce was agreed upon--one might say!

So to conclude well done Paul and thanks for posting the Tom Petty video, I would have flown the Gadsen flag outside the court house!

Gents as an Englishman, the United States has something quite unique which is this Constitution; borne out of conflict with the mother country and the Use of English law against England and it's own laws.

Long may it be so!
Have a good weekend.

You have to love the midwest geniuses who know everything about everything. "I have an opinion, therefore, I am right and you are wrong" is a typical uneducated (about the vehicle, not referring to their level of education) statement from the holier than thou crowd.

Dennis, are you able to cruise the areas around your shop and find cars that you find offensive? Personally, I think the Toyota Prius is horribly ugly, can you suggest a zoning clause that ensures that drivers of these "offensive" vehicles don't park them where I have to look at them, or even worse, get stuck behind them on a 2 lane road?

Yes a funny situation and all part of a perspective!
I can easily handle an individual in the "Home Despot" situations, but dealing with a county official who is hell bent on causing trouble and dislikes the vehicles I repair is something else!

In England we have what are called Quango's, in other words a County/State official with a clip board spouting rules and regulations. There in a tax and spend liberal society they are running rampant, however my business is in the USA a place I admire so there as going to be NO backing down!
I took a more diplomatic route than Paul perhaps, but even emphasizing jobs, tax revenue and employment opportunities are to no avail, all lost on the offical dogma table.
Only the prospect of writing to various high ranking people and the threat of a law suit seemed to bring a department to its senses.
Shame it had to come to that over what?--an obsolete collector miltary truck.
And yes after all that I bet he went home in his "smogless and smugless" Prius, bathing in a county salary and benes provided by us the taxpayer including no doubt a preferential county car loan at zero percent!
Cheers Dennis

A super huge thanks to Paul and everyone else who did so much to get this thing passed. My 710S arrived in Wisconsin last August after I thought the whole WI pinzgauer registration issue had already been settled when Paul won his appeal. You can imagine my shock and frustration when I went to register my pinz and DOT denied my registration. With Paul's help I filed an appeal and have been fighting ever since. Now with the new law, I was finally able to drop my appeal last week and have once again applied for registration, after an entire year of not being able to legally drive my pinzgauer in Wisconsin. What a headache and I am SO glad that it's finally over. Thanks again to Paul and everyone!!
