1:8 Scale RC Pinzgauer Rock Crawlers

A buddy of mine is into RC planes/vehicles, and found this guy's hand built RC Pinzgauers on some forum:

I used to race off-road RC cars when I was a kid (against all adults) but never saw anything quite that unique.

Only issue I see is that the tow pin on the front bumper looks a bit too large.

Doesn't look like portal axles to me, and (just as egregiously) it seems to be missing it's center axle entirely!!. WTF?
